JOB SUMMARY Provide leadership, direction and supervision to maintenance staff with the objective of performing, planning and directing the electrical and mechanical servicing and efficient maintenance of production machinery and equipment, physical plant, utilities, and grounds in accordance with all safety and regulatory compliance and company policies and procedures. It is the Maintenance Manager's responsibility to drive cost reductions through machine up time, reliability, energy reduction and maximized wrench time. Responsibilities Comply with all safety rules for self and others. Develops, schedules, apply resources and controls the preventive maintenance program to maintain production machinery and equipment in proper working condition. The target for all equipment is Near New Conditions. Implement, monitor and manage performance standards pertaining to Safety, SQF, Labor laws, equipment reliability/efficiency and equipment up time. Perform, supervise, inspect and coordinate activities, by both Berry Global maintenance and outside contractors, to ensure that highest standards of workmanship and safety are maintained. Prepare scope/specification for all major task/project to be completed by either contractor or Berry Global maintenance. Responsible for managing the Work Order database and PEM; used to collect and analyze data to improve safety, plant equipment reliability, production efficiency and achieve cost reductions. Ensures proper maintenance of facility machinery, building, grounds and security. Ensure inventories of maintenance material, supplies, and repair parts are maintained at required levels by initiating requisitions for purchase; periodically reviews inventory for proper upkeep at plant facilities. Responsible for electrical and mechanical equipment layouts and the modification of facilities within the plant. Ensures Food Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices and ISO Quality System processes, and training are maintained. Manage towards metrics; wrench time, MEFF, spending, mean time between failures. Communicate directly with other departments to coordinate and schedule repair work. Monitor and manage maintenance budget, spending and JDE purchase order process. Administers and documents disciplinary procedures as required. Coach, mentor and encourage subordinate staff. Manage and maintain all fire protection system as per codes. Plan, schedule and ensure execution of major shutdown for PM program. In conjunction with management, negotiate and manage all maintenance service contract. Assist in all SQF coordination in cooperation with the ISO MR. Work effectively and cooperatively with Health & Safety and the Production Manager(s) in continuous improvement efforts for safety in workflow and specific operations in the production department. On call to support a 24/7 production environment. Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with Company policies and applicable government and regulatory compliance. Excellent attention to details, sense of urgency, analytical problem solving, and decision making skills are instrumental in completing daily tasks as well as managing the maintenance team, projects and time. Literacy and Microsoft Office including ability to read and understand engineering manuals and blueprints. Promote and foster a positive work environment. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Maintenance or Engineering; 5-7 years of relative experience. Green belt certified preferred. Prior knowledge of machinery used in plastic film manufacturing or equivalent. Knowledge of controls and mechanics of automated process equipment, robot arms and conveyors. Excellent skills in coordinating efforts of diverse personnel. Ability to interact effectively with senior management and manufacturing groups. Knowledge required to assist in making final decisions regarding departmental procedures, work schedules and the ability to make recommendations regarding hiring and firing of manufacturing personnel. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to train and develop subordinates. Thorough knowledge of, and experience with, records maintenance relating to the expectations of regulatory agencies, such as:
OSHA, SQF and ISO auditors, relative to plant operation and maintenance responsibilities, Arc Flash, BSME, BSEE, BSIE, BSCE, NFPA and ANSI
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
